The mask is not lifted in a single document or a single hearing. It is lifted over years, through small, consistent acts of refusing to volunteer, refusing to register where registration is not required, refusing to default to the legal person whenever a form is put in front of you.

What the long game looks like
You do not produce ID where ID is not required. You do not give your full registered name where a first name will do. You do not sign forms with your usual cursive that includes your middle initial; you sign with your autograph, in your own form, deliberately. You pay in cash where cash is accepted. You keep paper bank statements. You hold a working passport but do not produce it at the off-licence. You write letters when the system writes to you, instead of phoning the helpline.
Each of these is a small act. None of them, on its own, lifts the mask. Together, over years, they build a life in which the mask plays a much smaller part. The system continues to address you as the legal person, because that is how it is built. You continue to read those letters, separate the addressee from yourself, and respond from your own standing.
What it does not look like
It does not look like a public performance. It does not look like waving sovereign-citizen videos at constables. It does not look like refusing to pay for groceries or arguing with the till operator about the lawful basis of VAT. The work is private, considered, and built into ordinary life. The loud version of this work is what gets people arrested and discredited. The quiet version is what changes a life.
Hold the line
Years matter. A man or woman who has held the position for ten years, with a clean record of correspondence, a stable household, and no court entanglements, is in a wholly different lawful posture from one who decided last week. The position deepens with use. Start where you are, hold what you can hold, and let the rest grow.
